Promoting Growth of PD Globally: Theory and Practice


Welcome to the Webinar Series! Our medical education programs are delivered by experts in their fields and cover a variety of disease-state education topics related to dialysis, critical care and beyond. Promoting Growth of PD Globally: Theory and Practice: This webinar will start with an overview of the disparity of the use of PD in different countries and how this impacts on availability, sustainability and cost of dialysis. As co-chair of the International Home Dialysis Consortium, Edwina Brown will outline how this joint project of ISN and ISPD is contributing to the goal of implementing means to promote PD globally. This will be followed by Ahad Qayyum, deputy-chair of the ISPD International Liaison Committee, discussing practical aspects of increasing availability of PD in Pakistan and other low healthcare resource countries in Asia. At the end of this webinar, attendees will have an understanding how the goal of increasing the availability of PD requires focusing on patient empowerment, healthcare team education, developing networks round centres of excellence and political advocacy.
