Many critically ill patients admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICUs) experience acute kidney injury (AKI) and require kidney replacement therapy (KRT). Whether therapy is continuous (CKRT) or intermittent (iHD), various anticoagulants may be needed to prevent circuit clotting and reduction in delivered dose of therapy. This webinar is designed to provide a fundamental understanding of the types of anticoagulation used, rationale for their use, protocols applied in different modalities, complications experienced, and overall management in patients with acute kidney injury in the ICU. Didactive discourse on these topics will be presented by a panel of expert speakers, and each speaker will be followed by a period for discussions and responses to clinical questions submitted by registrants on these topics.
